Product Description
Produced to the highest standards, Herpa diecast metal models are developed in collaboration with aircraft manufacturers and the airlines and are recognized by discerning model airplane collectors worldwide for their unparalleled, accurate realism, attention to detail and exceptional quality. True-to-scale, this Herpa 1/500 scale Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330-200 measures approximately 4-5/8-inches long with a 4-13/16-inch wingspan. A Display Stand is not included and is sold separately - Herpa HE521024. The twin engine, wide-body Airbus A330, which went into service in 1994, is currently the third most delivered wide-body jet after the Boeing 777 and Boeing 747 and goes up against the Boeing 767 along with shorter versions of the Boeing 777 and the Boeing 787. The Airbus A330-200, which was launched in 1998, is a slightly shorter, longer ranged variant of the Airbus A330. This Hawaiian Airlines A330-200, registered N361HA, was the last of 24 aircraft of this type to be delivered to the airline. It was also the first aircraft to receive the airline's updated livery, which included slight color changes on the tail in addition to the flower garland - maile lei - entwined around the fuselage. The aircraft was christened Hoku-Mau, the Polynesian name for the second brightest star in the constellation of the Little Bear, also known as Ursa Minor. Originally named Holopuni, the star was renamed in honor of Mau Piailug, a 20th-century Micronesian navigator who taught Hawaiian navigators how to navigate without instruments.
