Recognized and truly appreciated for its robust construction and STOL characteristics, the DHC-6 Twin Otter is a very popular commercial aircraft that first went into service in or about mid-1966 as the 100 series with the Ontario Department of Lands in Canada.

Introduced in 1969, the 300 series DHC-6, which has an approximate range of 900 nautical miles at a maximum cruising speed of roughly 330 km/h, offered more powerful engines than the preceding 100 and 200 series DHC-6 models along with a lengthened nose, which consequently allowed for an additional 1,000 pounds of takeoff weight. Production of the DHC-6-300 ended in 1988.
